• For which printer brands are PRINTERINKS replacement cartridges available?

We support and offer guaranteed 100% compatible replacement cartridges for most major printer brands, including HP, Epson, Canon, Brother, Lexmark, Kodak, Konica, Kyocera, OKI, Samsung, Xerox, Toshiba, Sharp and Dell.

• What is the difference between a compatible and a remanufactured cartridge?

A compatible cartridge is manufactured 100% from new materials in our factory. The outer casing is moulded and the inside components are added. Chips are added where necessary and then filled with ink.

A remanufactured cartridge is collected through our recycling scheme. Only the best quality cartridges are remanufactured. They are firstly cleaned thoroughly with our own developed cleaning solution to remove any dried ink. They are then refilled and each cartridge is tested before leaving the factory.

• Why should I buy PRINTERINKS inks over original manufacturer inks?

Top-quality materials and parts, a proven ISO 9001 manufacturing process and rigorous testing and verification procedures enable us to produce replacement cartridges that offer superior page yields and output quality. But don't just take our word for it. In extensive third party testing, PRINTERINKS cartridges not only outperformed the OEMs on page volume, our output was crisper, clearer and sharper.

• I’ve heard that compatibles or remanufactured inks may block my ink jets?

This may be the case with some of our competitors. This is mainly down to the fact that air gets inside the ink cartridge at the manufacturing stage. At PRINTERINKS we undertake a unique process to avoid this, resulting in a very a low return rate, less than 0.3%.

• Can compatible consumables damage my printer?

No. Our cartridges are designed to fit your printer. Unless a cartridge is forced or installed wrongly you should have no problems with any of our cartridges.

• Will PRINTERINKS compatible products invalidate my printer guarantee?

Your manufacturer’s guarantee may be void, please check the documentation that came with it. However, we are so confident about our product that we offer a full 100% 1 year guarantee on our products and your printer is covered if it is damaged by our inkjets.

• Why do printer manufacturers discourage the use of compatible cartridges?

Greed, perhaps? Maybe OEMs are hoping that you won't discover how PRINTERINKS costs up to 25% less for cartridges that are guaranteed to exceed their own quality and performance specifications.

• Will the colours be as bright as the original manufacturer inks?

The simple answer is YES! We have 25 years’ experience and have perfected our inks to give rich, vibrant, long lasting prints. (However, the setting you use for your printer and the correct paper will make a huge difference to your print.)

Also we use American ink formulation which is Ultra Violet and fade resistant, thus providing everlasting colour with a clear sharper finished result.

Our laser toners are engineered to specific chemical formulation with special focus to particular size that gives sharper and clearer prints.

• Does a PRINTERINKS product last as long as an Original product?

A PRINTERINKS compatible or remanufactured product does 95% the same job as Original products. Also you will be getting more ink for your money and your yield per page would be greater than Original’s, i.e. 350 more pages to be precise. We also reset the Chip on the cartridge so that you can use all the ink unlike the Originals who only gives you 70% usage.

• I have already tried a compatible product before and was not happy with the result!

You have not tried a PRINTERINKS product! Some compatible manufacturer’s products may not have the desired result. But we have spent 25 years perfecting our inks and toners and you will find it hard to spot the difference of a printed sample between a PRINTERINKS product and an OEM.

• What happens if I have a problem with your product?

If you cannot find the solution for you, we recommend that you call us for some technical advice. If we are unable to correct the problem, we will then replace the product with a new one or if required we would refund the money back to you. Hence, you can have peace of mind when dealing with PRINTERINKS.

• What are you doing to help the environment?

At PRINTERINKS we collect over 500,000 empty ink cartridges, laser toners and mobile phones through our sister company The Recycling Factory each month. All our packaging is environmentally friendly using recycled plastic and recyclable card. This results in much less waste going to landfill.

Thus we make a responsible effort to protect the environment by recycling up to 80% of the product and also maintaining the quality of the product by replacing all toner parts with brand new parts, e.g. Wiper Blade, etc. thus reducing Carbon Footprints.

• It's been said that some OEMs actually sell private customer data. What's PRINTERINKS’s privacy policy?

You've helped make us the world's leading source for replacement cartridges, so we're not about to violate your trust. Therefore, we pledge not to sell or share personal information with any company or individual without your knowledge or consent as stated in our Privacy Policy.

Compatible inkjets:

• Why does the PRINTERINKS compatible cartridge not look the same as the original branded cartridge?

You may notice the compatible cartridge varies in its design when compared to the original branded product. The PRINTERINKS compatible cartridge is different to avoid the intellectual property rights owned by the original equipment manufacturer. These changes will NOT affect the quality of the printout.

• What should I do if my cartridge is “not recognised”?

On a number of compatible cartridges, this error message will appear when the ink has run out. If you have already used the cartridge, please replace as normal.

If you have inserted a new cartridge, follow these instructions.

1. Carefully remove the cartridge from the carriage, being careful as the seal will be broken and ink may drip.
2. Clean the chips on the cartridges with a soft dry cloth as any residue or finger prints will prevent these from being read by the printer.
3. Reinsert the cartridges into the carriage and push them down very firmly. If they are not pushed down far enough, it will show the error message “cartridge not recognised”. This is simply because the chips are not connecting with the printer.

Remanufactured Inkjets:

• What should I do if the ink cartridge warning light appears after installing a cartridge?

1. Switch the printer off for 20 seconds and restart.
2. If the light is still on after step 1, remove the affected cartridge, following the printer cartridge change instructions.
3. Clean the face of the copper coloured electrical contacts with a piece of dry tissue and re-insert the affected cartridge.

• What if my printout from my remanufactured cartridge is unsatisfactory?

Perform a cleaning cycle using your printer software. Refer to your printer manual for cleaning cycle instructions.

If the printout is imperfect after performing a cleaning cycle please follow the steps below.

1. Take the cartridge out of the printer.
2. Fold a pad of paper tissue and moisten with warm water.
3. Place the paper tissue on a work surface and wipe the print-head exerting slight pressure.
4. Replace the cartridges into the printer and print again.

If the printout is still unsatisfactory repeat steps 1-4.

• Can I use an original branded cartridge once I have used a PRINTERINKS cartridge?

Yes. Our products will not affect the printer if you wish to switch back to an original; however we are confident that once you have tried our high quality, high value product you will see no reason to go back to using an original branded cartridge.

• I have fitted the cartridge and no print is on the paper.

Some cartridges are fitted with removable seals to prevent toner leaking from the product. Simply pull the detachable plastic seal from the side of the cartridge fully to release the toner.

• Do I shake the cartridge prior to installation to my printer?

Your cartridge contains very fine powder called ‘toner’. Prior to installation gently rock the cartridge from side to side 2 to 3 times to allow the powder to move into position before printing. You will not need to repeat this process once the cartridge is installed as most cartridges contain a mechanical paddle which agitates the powder during the printing process.

• I am using one of your products for the first time and there is no seal to remove like on the OEM product.

Some cartridges do not require the fitment of a seal. We have remanufactured this product so it does not require a seal.

• I have used a remanufactured cartridge before and the drum was a different colour.

Prior to remanufacturing the cartridge, each product is tested to ensure the ‘drum’ usually a dull blue /green, is in a good condition. OEM drums are very versatile and can be in some cases repeatedly used.

If the original drum has been damaged during the collection and recovery process, a new drum will be fitted which will usually be shiny light green.

• My laser toner will no longer print (Product fitted with a micro chip)

Some laser toner cartridges are fitted with a memory chip which prevents the cartridge working once the chip has reached the end of its pre-set counter. This chip cannot be reset.

Please note that some chips are radio frequency devices and are fitted to the interior of the cartridge and cannot be visually detected.

• My toner will no longer print (No chip fitted)

If you experience you cartridge rapidly deteriorating, it is highly likely it has run out of toner powder. Prior to purchasing your next cartridge, remove the existing product and gently rock the product from side to side. It is possible the rocking motion will shift any remaining toner powder in the cartridge enabling you to continue to print a few extra pages. Please do not rapidly shake the product as this may result in toner leakage from the built in waste tank.

• I have installed the cartridge and the toner level indicator is not active.

To avoid patent infringements the design of the memory chip may differ from the original product. Some laser toner cartridges when installed will not display the memory status bar of your printer display. This does not affect the performance of the cartridge and you may continue to print.

• The toner powder has not stuck to the paper and can be brushed off.

After the toner has been transferred to the paper within the printer, the paper passes through a ‘fuser unit’. The fuser unit is designed to heat the toner powder and adhere it to the paper.

The fuser unit is a consumable component and may not be working.

• How can I tell how much toner is left within my cartridge?

Many printers have a function to extract the cartridge and printer supplies status.

Select the menu button then the information button.

Under this heading you may be able to select the printer supplies status.

By pressing the colour or paper feed button the printer supplies status page may be printed.

• How to clear up toner powder?

In the unlikely event toner powder is deposited onto a work surface, wipe away with a damp disposable tissue. Always unplug the printer from the power supply before cleaning your printer.

To remove toner from your hands use cold water with mild household soap. Do not use warm or hot water as this will fuse the toner to your skin.

PRINTERINKS warrants each Inkjet cartridge to be free of defects in both materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year. PRINTERINKS products are remanufactured to the most stringent quality control standards possible, guaranteeing performance that meets or exceeds that of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

PRINTERINKS will replace any of its Inkjet printer cartridges found to be defective. PRINTERINKS also warrants that, subject to the conditions stated below and under normal use, our Laser or Inkjet cartridges will not cause damage, abnormal wear, or deterioration to any compatible Laser or Inkjet printer.

If a defect in an PRINTERINKS remanufactured cartridge causes a printer to fail, we will reimburse the customer the full amount for all service and repair of the printer. This warranty is dependent upon the printer owner speaking to an PRINTERINKS Printer Technician in the first instance and providing us with satisfactory evidence that the printer failure was due to a defect in the PRINTERINKS Inkjet cartridge, this may include a written statement on an authorized service company’s letterhead, dated and signed by the company’s field sales or service representative. The product that caused the damage must also be returned.

PRINTERINKS’s liability here under shall be limited to replacement as stated above. This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The tampering of any PRINTERINKS branded laser or inkjet cartridge by any persons other than an PRINTERINKS representative voids all warranties and releases PRINTERINKS’s liability as stated above. All returns must be returned in the original packaging with protection. Any return without proper packaging will not receive credit.

• What products can I recycle?

Any brand ink cartridges, toner cartridges, drum cartridges and labelling cassettes can be recycled.

• Who recycles my old printing consumables?

Warehouse Stationery is working with Brother, which has partnered with Croxley Recycling, New Zealand’s only e-waste recycler with Environmental Choice certification. They break down and arrange for recycling of the various elements from consumables, from the plastic casing to individual components to packaging.

The Croxley Recycling Centre, located in New Lynn, Auckland, makes a significant contribution to reducing landfill in this country. A recent audit showed that 99% (by weight) of what is sent to their Centre is able to be recycled. That level of performance is achieved largely because Croxley Recycling meets all the requirements of Environmental Choice and offers an audited, end of life pathway for products.

• How do I recycle my old consumables (e.g. ink or toner cartridge)?

You can drop off any old printing consumables to your nearest Warehouse Stationery located nationwide.

• Is there a cost to recycle my old printing consumables?

There is no cost for recycling your old printing consumables.

• Why should I recycle my old printing products?

PRINTERINKS, Warehouse Stationery and Brother take environmental responsibilities seriously and encourage customers to do the same. • What is Carbon Footprint?

A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event, product or person." Greenhouse gases can be emitted through transport, land clearance, and the production and consumption of food, fuels, manufactured goods, materials, wood, roads, buildings, and services. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted.

• What are Carbon Offsets?

Carbon offsets are a way for individuals and organisations to compensate for their own greenhouse gas emissions by paying for others to undertake emission reduction programs. These offsets are generated from projects and initiatives that actually reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

One ton of carbon offset activity represents one ton of CO2-e (carbon dioxide equivalent) that’s prevented from entering the atmosphere and contributing to global warming and climate change, or in the case of trees it represents one ton of CO2-e that’s sequestered from the atmosphere.

When you pay us to offset one ton, we undertake to either arrange for one ton of CO2-e emission reduction to occur, or to purchase an undertaking from a third party that one ton of CO2-e emission has or will occur.

• Why Carbon Footprint is important in Inks and toner industry?

The remanufacturing process saves approximately 2.5 kg of CO2 per cartridge compared to the production of a new cartridge. From data collected, a mono toner cartridge can be remanufactured on average 3.5 times, meaning the carbon footprint from the production of the original cartridge is amortised over this extended lifetime. This needs to be added to the carbon footprint to gain an overall remanufacturing footprint. Based on these assumptions the carbon footprint of remanufactured cartridge is approximately 2.8 kg, which is 2 kg (46 %) lower than that for a new cartridge.
